Critical Conceptualization of Global Disorder

Chair(s): Dr. Sasikumar Sundaram (City, University of London)

Presenter(s): Dr. Xia Sun (Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences), Dr. Geoffrey Swenson (City, University of London), Dr. Marinana Andrade e Barros (Pontifical University Catholic of Minas Gerais), Dr. Peter Nikolaus Funke (University of South Florida), Dr. Bonnie Ayodele (University of the Gambia), Dr. Malgorzata M. Bonikowska (University of Warsaw), Dr. Natalia Raquel Razovich (Corvinus University of Budapest), Dr. Daniela Vieira Secches (Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais)

The workshop delves into conceptual and empirical facets of global disorder, investigating new relational and critical analyses. It probes into the empirical manifestation of disorder in the implementation of the rule of law, governance of artificial intelligence, and the novel "civilizational narratives" in Africa among others. The objective is to offer new conceptual vocabulary and empirical analysis to make sense of Global Disorder. It aims to bring new insights to the discussions of disorder that are not merely a dialectical opposite of liberal order but with complex interdependence and connections with a life of its own. The discussions will constitute an opportunity to propose a Special Issue for an academic journal.
