The purpose of this roundtable is to discuss foreign policy from a comparative perspective, using certain variables and analyzing some cases. Some of the variables will be geographical, economic, demographic, military, cultural, political, and institutional. The cases will be Mexico, the United States of America, Australia, Turkey, Canada, and Brazil. The idea is to identify similarities and differences in the decision-making process in those cases. Papers will discuss the internal and external factors that influence foreign policy actions and the actors that participate in the decision-making process. Each paper will include some brief historical background, some domestic and external variables that influence foreign policy, and contemporary foreign policy actions.
