Session Abstract

The importance of the tertiary sector in the western industrialised countries has increased considerably with the transformation to a service society. This, in combination with the digitalisation of products and services, represents an enormous challenge for the often medium-sized businesses, particularly in Germany. Especially in comparison to the well-known American tech groups and the platform and cloud strategies frequently encountered there, inferiority is often assumed with regard to the establishment of digital business models and the availability of infrastructures and technologies. The panel therefore deals with the question of which framework conditions are required for intelligent services 'made in Germany' and how these can be used for innovative and sustainable digital business models in the various industries.
