Session Abstract

With trust at the forefront, the HBCU Digital Library Trust (HBCU Trust) collaborates with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), the HBCU Library Alliance, Harvard Library, and the Atlanta University Center Woodruff Library to unite historical collections documenting African American culture with digitization resources and expertise to preserve and make HBCU archives accessible to all. Born out of the Harvard & Legacy of Slavery Initiative, the HBCU Trust supports the expansion of the existing HBCU Digital Collection platform. Andrea Jackson Gavin, Program Director of the HBCU Trust, will share background on the initiative, and how its success is dependent upon establishing and maintaining relationships, addressing concerns around past injustices, and upholding a standard of excellence.
