Navigating the Complexities of High Performance Building Standards 1: Interface Engineering; 2: Clearbrook Energy Solutions; 3: Baumann Consulting; 4: HKS; 5: Group 14; 6: ZeroEnvy As energy codes continue to evolve, jurisdictions nationwide are implementing compliance metrics and performance thresholds that push the building stock towards higher performance levels. This panel will explore the development of these high performance standards, highlight specific barriers to compliance as well as constructively present solutions from firsthand experience. This session will present the more stringent building energy codes in this country and how the panelists’ see the future evolution of these high performance thresholds amidst ongoing changes in federal energy and sustainability policy. The session will highlight how building simulation is being leveraged to deliver compliant buildings in these high performance jurisdictions. Session speakers will include practitioners working across the country’s local, state and federal level will discuss the specific insights regarding: Washington State’s Energy Code, Washington DC’s Appendix Z, Massachusetts’ Stretch Energy Code, California’s Title 24, and Denver’s Energy Code, as well as federal (DoD) requirements. We hope to engage with various stakeholders (policy makers, code experts, research, academia), with an open question format at the end of the session. | ||
