What is Reality Really?: ASHRAE/IBPSA Standard 140's First Empirical Validation Test Suite 1: J. Neymark and Associates; 2: Argonne National Laboratory; 3: Salas O'Brien The first empirical validation test cases and related acceptance criteria for ASHRAE/IBPSA Standard 140, "Method of Test for Evaluating Building Performance Simulation Software" are presented. The test cases focus on building envelope modeling and compare seven different industry software program results sets with empirical data that provide a physical truth standard within the uncertainty of measured data. SPEAKERS Joel Neymark: Overview of experimental facility, test cases, and measured data; summarized industry simulation trial results; and next steps. Tim McDowell: Software developer perspective on applying the test suite to evaluate a variety of interior surface convection algorithms versus the measured data. Jeannie Kim: Uncertainty of the measured data and propagation of uncertainties for building characteristics derived from measurements, including sensitivity of applying catalog data versus empirically characterized thermal properties. Ralph Muehleisen: Single-metric statistical acceptance criteria for tested software, with measurement uncertainty as a basis parameter. | ||
