Never Have I Ever…
Lisa Ng
National Institute of Standards and Technology, United States of America
This session is designed to be highly interactive. It will be moderated by the Mixas Working Group members. This session will be played like the game “Never Have I Ever” (sans alcohol). Participants at each table will be handed a set of cards with phrases like “Never have I ever…blamed an architect for a problem on a drawing” and “Never have I ever…modeled infiltration as zero.” If a participant has NEVER done the action on the card, they stay seated. Last person seated at each table will move onto a new table and a new set of cards. This table will be a “fishbowl,” meaning the rest of the room is asked to gather around the table and observe them play the game again. Moderators will interact/interview these participants as they play and encourage observers to discuss the cards amongst themselves. The final part of this session is to gather those who have DONE THE MOST on the cards, as the expert panel. A discussion will be moderated with the panel on select cards, such as, “how do you model infiltration?”
The objectives of the session are to (1) allow participants to get to know one another through introductions at the beginning of the session; (2) allow participants from a diverse set of professional backgrounds and experience indirectly discuss their workflow and (possibly) misconceptions about building design, modeling, and operation; and (3) give our most experienced participants a forum to share their “tips and tricks” with everyone.
“Never” meaning in the course of your professional career.
