Session Abstract

Beyond the well-established understanding that regular physical activity contributes to overall health, we are working on a more nuanced perspective that tailoring specific sports activities can serve as a targeted remedy for

various pathologies. This paradigm shift transcends the general acknowledgment that exercise is beneficial and delves into the intricacies of how certain sports can be strategically employed to address specific health challenges. Brain health is the key to overall health, determining all our sensorimotor and cognitive actions. The present talk will concentrate on the relevance of GABAergic neurotransmission on brain health and how sport activities can be used to specifically influence GABAergic activity. Furthermore, the difficulties of disseminating this knowledge and integrating appropriate measures into the current healthcare system are discussed.
