Welcome Message from State Secretary, Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, Slovenia Matevž Frangež, born 30 March 1978 in Maribor, holds a university degree in law. Active in youth and student organising from a young age, he was a member of the City Council of the Municipality of Maribor from 2002 to 2010. He was elected a deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia for the 2008–2011 and 2011–2014 terms and then worked for a short period as a State Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. In 2015, Frangež set out as an entrepreneur. He then took over the strategic communication in the Social Democratic Party in 2019 and was an assistant of the party’s deputy group in the National Assembly. The Government of the Republic of Slovenia appointed him State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology on 1 June 2022. On 24 January 2023 The Government of the Republic of Slovenia appointed him State Secretary at the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport. Welcome Message from Vice-rector for research and development of the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia Prof. Dr Gregor Dolinar teaches mathematics and statistics for all three study cycles at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. He earned his doctorate from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, where he was later promoted to the rank of full professor. His research focuses on functional analysis, linear algebra, graph theory, and the application of statistics, particularly in electrical engineering and medicine. He has published the results of his research with co-authors from the Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy, China, Hungary, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, the USA, and Slovenia. Prof. Dolinar has also lectured at international universities, including in Moscow, Ankara, Taiyuan, Xi'an, Zürich, Debrecen, and Zagreb. From 2013 to 2017, he served as Vice-Dean for Education and subsequently held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, from 2017 to 2023. His leadership and management experience extends to several national and international organisations, and he is an active member of various committees, including the International Mathematical Olympiad, Kangourou sans Frontières, the National Examinations Centre, the Society of Mathematicians, Physicists and Astronomers of Slovenia, and the Mountain Rescue Association of Slovenia. Prof. Dolinar is also dedicated to popularising mathematics among young people by involving them in international mathematical competitions. His initial term of office spanned from 18 December 2024 to 30 September 2025. He was re-appointed as the University of Ljubljana’s Vice-Rector for Research and Development for the term from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2029. 10:51am - 10:58am
