Discussion and Planning Session for CWMSG 20th Anniversary Organized by the AMS Cold War and Music Study Group. The Cold War Music Study Group of the American Musicological Society will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2027. At our 2026 business meeting, Chair Lisa Cooper Vest will lead a planning session for an anniversary panel for the 2027 AMS national meeting. We invite any interested AMS members to join the discussion, during which we will consider the questions, topics, and methods that have motivated our group’s work over the past two decades. Revisiting the foundational Cold-War-themed double issue of Journal of Musicology (2009), we will think about how our group has addressed and expanded upon the interventions offered by those texts, and we will develop a concept for the 2027 panel that both celebrates our past work and offers new provocations for the group’s future. | |
