Conference Agenda

This workshop session will explore a recent webinar hosted by the Society for Applied Anthropology (SFAA) that explores how AI is shaping anthropology's future — both the opportunities to intervene in AI development and the institutional, methodological, and professional pressures it creates. Speakers in the webinar are from industry, clinical research, and academia, and they discuss what it means for the discipline to move from studying AI to actively building with it. The workshop is focused on discussing the many points of anthropological contention and opportunity amidst the creep of AI in anthropology today and in the future.
