The Association for Archaeological Collections and Repositories (AACR) is an organization started by members of the Archaeological Collections Consortium (ACC) - a group of 10 representatives from the Society for American Archaeology, the Society for Historical Archaeology, the American Cultural Resources Association, and several federal agencies committed to addressing overlapping archaeological collections-related challenges. The ACC recognized that a wider network of collections managers, curators, and others responsible for archaeological collections at a variety of repository types would benefit from an inclusive international organization focused on archaeological collections, which is the impetus behind the founding of the AACR. This workshop coincides with the first meeting of the AACR, offering a chance for participants to help the organization identify objectives and priorities for the short, medium, and long term. The goal of the meeting is to gather diverse thoughts, voices, and opinions that will guide the formation of the AACR.
