Celebrating Diversity: An Eileen Southern Travel Fund and Howard Mayer Brown Fellowship Reunion

Chair(s): Samuel Dorf (American Musicological Society), Ryan BaƱagale (Colorado College)

Presenter(s): Anna Gatdula (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill), Carol Oja (Harvard University), Marcus Pyle (Davidson College), Marysol Quevedo (University of Miami)

Organized by the AMS Development Committee.

The AMS Development Committee will host a celebration of diversity in music studies by exploring the impact of the two AMS programs that have done the most to contribute directly to diversifying the AMS: the Eileen Southern Travel Fund (ESTF) and Howard Mayer Brown (HMB) Fellowship. The session will include opening remarks about Eileen Southern and her legacy followed by a short roundtable and reunion of former ESTF and HMB award recipients. We will also recognize the many individual donors who have made the program possible. More details will be posted as they become available.
