Following the recent publication of Queer Ear: Remaking Music Theory (Lee 2023), the Committee on LGBTQ+ Issues has planned a three-part session to celebrate and build upon the work of that volume. Part 1 consists of a set of presentations from select participants involved in this past summer’s inaugural Queer Theory Reading Group, which met weekly to discuss Queer Ear over several weeks. Part 2 is an open sharing of research in queer music theory, which will feature brief sketches of research, followed by longer, small-group discussions to include presenters and attendees. Part 3 is about LGBTQ+ community building and needs assessment. All attendees will be invited to complete and provide additional feedback on a community needs survey, while also joining in on a fun community building activity.
