Analysis of the unemployment rate and foreign investment index export mechanisms for the supply chain in the Central American textile sector 1Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras - (HN); 2Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana - UNITEC - (HN) The Central American textile sector plays a key role in the regional economy, particularly in terms of job creation and integration into global value chains. However, its competitiveness is conditioned by structural factors such as unemployment and foreign direct investment (FDI). This study aims to analyze how these variables influence the sector's export mechanisms. A mixed approach was used with data from five countries (Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua), applying descriptive and correlational analyses and nonparametric statistical tests to economic indicators between 1995 and 2023. The data reveal notable regional differences: Costa Rica stands out for its high FDI inflows, but with possible negative effects on the export and labor performance of neighboring countries, while Honduras and Guatemala show synchronized growth patterns. It is concluded that FDI only contributes significantly to export competitiveness when it is articulated with solid institutions, coordinated public policies, and human capital formation. The article proposes strategic guidelines for sustainable regional integration, emphasizing the need for development models based on innovation, equity, and the circular economy. 8:38am - 8:46am
Digital Transformation Strategies for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) 1Universidad Tecnologica de Perú - (PE), Perú; 2Universidad Tecnologica de Perú - (PE), Perú; 3Universidad Tecnologica de Perú - (PE), Perú This study examines digital transformation strategies in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), aiming to assess their impact on competitiveness and operational efficiency. Using a systematic literature review (SLR) based on the PRISMA methodology, 40 relevant studies published between 2019 and 2024 were reviewed, including scientific articles, conferences, and reviews. The findings indicate that digital transformation helps optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance global market positioning. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation are identified as essential drivers of this progress. However, significant barriers—such as limited financial resources, lack of technical skills, and resistance to organizational change—hinder widespread adoption. The study concludes that digitalization offers a vital opportunity to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of SMEs. It also emphasizes the need for tailored public policies and support strategies to facilitate this transition. The research aims to serve as a practical guide for business leaders and policymakers interested in advancing digital transformation within this critical economic sector. 8:46am - 8:54am
ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION AND LIMITING FACTORS IN THE EXECUTION OF BUSINESS IDEAS IN THE POPULATION OF SAN PEDRO SULA, HONDURAS Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana - UNITEC - (HN), Honduras The present study aimed to identify the factors that limit the execution of business ideas in people with entrepreneurial intentions in San Pedro Sula. To do this, a quantitative approach of descriptive correlational scope with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design was used, applying a questionnaire to 302 residents over 18 years of age. The data were analyzed in SPSS using Pearson Chi Square tests to evaluate associations between demographic characteristics, training, and entrepreneurial intention. The results indicated that the most limiting internal factors are fear of failure (23%), lack of knowledge in administration (15%) and anxiety in decision-making (11%), while external factors include limited access to financing (22%), citizen insecurity (22%) and the complexity of legal procedures (37%). It was observed that the perception of preparation was the variable most strongly associated with entrepreneurial intention, p-value <0.000, followed by the existence of a defined business plan, p-value <0.000) and the age group of 25–34 years, p-value =0.001. Furthermore, recent training was significantly linked to having a business plan, p-value <0.001, and with the perception of preparation, p-value = 0.030. Based on the findings, it is shown that both internal and external factors act simultaneously, limiting the materialization of entrepreneurial intention. 9:02am - 9:10am
Filling Process Optimization Through an Automated System in the Cleaning Products Industry Universidad Privada del Norte - (PE), Perú This research, with a quantitative approach, analyzes the implementation of an automated filling system using sensors and programmable logic controllers (PLC) in a liquid product manufacturing plant. The study arises in response to inefficiencies identified in the manual process, such as long cycle times, low performance, and a high failure rate attributable to human errors and operational variability. The applied methodology included a technical analysis using tools such as the Pareto Chart, FMEA, and criticality analysis, followed by the design, implementation, and validation of the automated system. Key indicators such as cycle time, performance, and failure rate were used to evaluate operational improvement. The results show a reduction in the average monthly cycle time from 113.1 to 92.8 hours (17.9%), an increase in performance from 70.7% to 86.0%, and a decrease in the failure rate from 29.3% to 14.0%. These changes reflect a significant improvement in the efficiency, continuity, and reliability of the filling process, highlighting the positive impact of automation on productivity and the reduction of human error. | ||
