A Playful Method: The influence of gamification on the self-learning of students in a Public University in Peru Universidad Privada del Norte - (PE), Perú Abstract– This study investigates the relationship between gamification and self-learning among students at the Public University of education. Utilizing reliable questionnaires with coefficients of 0.918 for gamification and 0.930 for self-learning, the research measures students' perceptions across several dimensions of gamification and self-learning. The descriptive results reveal a predominantly low perception of gamification, with 68% of students rating it as low. Similarly, 64% of students perceive their self-learning capabilities as low. Hypothesis testing shows no significant correlation between gamification and self-learning, suggesting that gamification, as currently perceived, does not significantly influence self-learning processes. These findings indicate the need for re-evaluating gamification strategies to better support and enhance self-learning among students. The study contributes to understanding the effectiveness of gamification in educational contexts and highlights areas for future research and development. 2:28pm - 2:36pm
Comparison of thermal conductivity of traditional and PET reinforced adobe masonry units to improve thermal comfort in buildings Universidad Tecnológica del Perú S.A.C. - (PE), Perú The objective of the research was to improve adobe masonry units reinforced with recycled PET to create an ecological material with the addition of aloe that can be applied in buildings in cold climates with thermal discomfort. For this purpose, a basic experimental methodology was used, based on traditional empirical techniques, with the use of a thermal camera to determine the thermal conductivity. The results show a better behavior of the material created with 10% of Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) clay soil, which is the most efficient because it can absorb more heat energy and transmit heat, as opposed to traditional adobe samples. This research presents a significant contribution by establishing the ancestral dosages, little known in the scientific field, from a basic experimentation process. 2:36pm - 2:44pm
Barriers to the Adoption of Accessible and Non-Polluting Technology Among Residents of a Peruvian Province Universidad César Vallejo - (PE), Perú The assessment in Trujillo reveals key barriers to solar energy adoption, such as high installation and maintenance costs, lack of financing, and low perception of benefits. Supportive policies are needed to improve access and clarify advantages. The research was conducted using a basic research type with a quantitative-descriptive approach. The findings indicate that the main obstacles perceived by the population of Trujillo in harnessing solar energy are related to both initial and ongoing economic barriers, as well as the lack of accessible financing and high-interest rates. In conclusion, the assessment in Trujillo highlights barriers to solar energy: 27.2% consider installation costs to be high, 28.3% cite maintenance costs, 30.4% point to a lack of financing, 29.3% mention high-interest rates, and 28.3% do not perceive a significant reduction in their bills. Supportive policies are required. 2:44pm - 2:52pm
Comparison between IA prediction and calculation of relay operation time with overcurrent protection 51 inverse ANSI curve 1Universidad Católica de Santa María - (PE), Perú; 2Universidad Nacional de San Agustín de Arequipa - (PE) This work focuses on making a comparison between the prediction of an artificial intelligence and a mathematical formula that calculates the operation time of an overcurrent protection relay with a very inverse ANSI curve. To make this comparison, first, a neural network was built to learn to predict the operation time of an overcurrent protection relay with a very inverse ANSI curve. Then, a web interface was developed where the results of the neural network's prediction and the results of the mathematical calculation using the aforementioned formula can be visualized. To build the neural network, the Google Colab interface was used with the Python programming language, and to create the web interface, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were employed. With the neural network and web interface developed, a comparison is carried out between the neural network's prediction and a mathematical formula that calculates the operation time of an overcurrent protection relay with a very inverse ANSI curve using three examples, along with discussions, observations, and conclusions. 2:52pm - 3:00pm
Understanding QR Code Mobile Payment Adoption in Jamaica: A University Community Perspective 1University of Technology - (JM); 2University of Florida-IFA - (US) The rise of mobile payments and digital wallets has revolutionized digital payment methods for businesses and consumers worldwide. This study focuses on Jamaica, a country with 82% internet usage penetration among its population and 103 mobile cellular subscriptions per 100 persons in 2021, surpassing the world average of 63%. Despite these promising figures, the adoption rate of mobile payment solutions remains relatively low. Adopting the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT, this study investigates the adoption patterns of mobile payment systems, specifically QR code payments, among 91 participants, predominantly young adults and women, at the University of Technology, Jamaica. Our preliminary findings suggest a growing acceptance of mobile payment technologies among the educated youth, yet highlights a gap between technological accessibility and actual usage. This paper delves into the factors driving and hindering mobile payment adoption, such as public awareness, perceptions of security, technical challenges and perceived utility. It offers valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and financial technology stakeholders. The study offers insights into the challenges and opportunities in promoting digital financial services in developing economies. It also underscores the importance of tailored strategies that address specific barriers to mobile payment adoption, thereby enhancing financial inclusion ... 3:00pm - 3:08pm
