Environmental research from a European and Latin American perspective. A literature review.

Jorge Luis Leiva Piedra, Walter Manuel Hoyos Alayo, Zaida Brenilda Chávez Romero, Marina Fernández Miranda

Universidad Tecnológica del Perú S.A.C. - (PE), Perú

The excessive use of resources, population, industrial, and economic growth have been generating impacts on the environment and concerns at the political level, which is why environmental research emerges as an alternative for the implementation of sustainable policies and strategies that allow the sustainable development and growth of many countries. This study sought to analyze the European and Latin American perspectives on environmental research. A bibliographic review was carried out, identifying, and selecting scientific articles from SCOPUS and Science Direct, from the last six years, about Environmental Sciences, applying filters by keywords and publication title. The analysis showed a growing concern about the effects of massive resource consumption and environmental degradation and a strong interest in the development of science-based strategies to conserve the environment without affecting countries' economic growth and development. Technology gaps were also observed in the food, water, and energy sectors, highlighting their distribution, waste management, and carbon footprint. On the other hand, the generation of new theories allows for the broadening of approaches and their application in environmental policies. It was concluded that there is an evolution in environmental awareness and global perception of its importance, generating the need to seek science-based alternatives that promote eco-sustainable development.

Creating problem-solution scenarios by using Future Wheels and OTSM-TRIZ: Enhancing drone application in wildfire problems in Chile.

Christopher Nikulin1, Cristian Valdes2, Leslye Estay3

1Universidad Alberto Hurtado, Chile; 2Universidad San Sebastian; 3Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria

The following research proposal integrate two innovative methodologies used in different context, but in combination can bring new insight to decision makers about the future.: The General Theory of Powerful Thinking OTSM - TRIZ and Futures Wheel, a tool for analyzing different scenarios of occurrence. This integration is meant to be achieved through the combination of both, with the aim of proposing a new combined methodology that allows a more globalized approach to all types of situations in conflict. Combining the resolution of inventive problems with the analysis of scenarios for the same event, change or situation, allows the application of both methodologies to be a simultaneous and integrated manner of using them for strategic planning purposes, in different areas of the industry. The validation of the proposed combination was based on a case of study, particularly, on the development of an intelligent multimodal vision system based on the use of drones. These drones could allow the automatic monitoring and mitigation of wildfires in large areas of territory in unstructured scenarios in real time.

Systematic Review on Mobile Application Interface Design for the Visually Impaired Community

Maritza Del Aguila Dominguez, Jorge Isaac Añape Ríos, Luis Carmelo Rada Mota

Universidad Tecnológica del Perú (UTP), Perú

The purpose of this research is to understand the importance of the design and development of inclusive mobile applications for people with visual disabilities, addressing significant issues of accessibility and usability to promote digital inclusion and improve the user experience in Peru. A systematic review was conducted using a methodology based on the PICO and PRISMA method to ensure accuracy and transparency. In addition, scientific articles in English or Spanish from 2018 to 2024 were searched in Scopus, eliminating duplicates and selecting a final sample. The results indicate that the design of mobile interfaces for users with visual disabilities significantly improves digital accessibility. This approach solves problems such as missing labels and inadequate contrast, allowing independent navigation and promoting inclusivity. The integration of screen readers and contrast adjustments not only optimizes the user experience, but also strengthens their autonomy and productivity, highlighting the importance of these advances in creating more inclusive and accessible digital environments. It is concluded that the design of accessible mobile interfaces for users with visual disabilities improves digital usability by addressing problems such as lack of labels and inadequate contrast, promoting inclusion and digital independence in an equitable manner.

Systematic Review of Ergonomic Risks in Musculoskeletal Disorders of Workers in an Industrial Company

Zamir Jesús Espíritu Anaya, Karen Milagros Canaza Luque, Luis Carmelo Rada Mota

Universidad Tecnológica del Perú (UTP), Perú

This research has the purpose of understanding and interpreting the interventions applied to Ergonomic Risks in musculoskeletal disorders of workers in an industrial company. A methodology associated with the PICO and PRIS-MA methods was used to search for articles in academic databases and the precision of inclusion and exclusion criteria of research documents respectively. The results of the systematic literature review (SLR) indicate that ergonomic methodologies significantly reduce the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) by minimizing physical load and stress on workers. Effective interventions include job rotation, posture analysis tools like REBA, and advanced technologies such as exoskeletons. These measures improve worker safety, reduce absenteeism, and enhance productivity. Studies con-firm the broad efficacy of these approaches across various industries, with comprehensive and personalized interventions showing the greatest impact. In conclusion, addressing ergonomic risks through both traditional and advanced methods effectively improves worker health and productivity. For the Peruvian industrial context, adopting these methodologies and technologies can significantly enhance operational efficiency and worker well-being. Further research is needed to validate the effectiveness of new technologies and tailor strategies for specific industries.

Applied Neuroscience for Data Visualization

Rafael Camacho-Aguilar, Javier Rojas-Segura, Marco Martinez-Mora, Jose Martinez-Villavicencio

Tecnológico de Costa Rica - (CR)

The exponential increase in complexity and volume of data in the contemporary world has driven the adoption of Visual Analytics (VA) tools to accelerate knowledge extraction through effective visual representation of metrics and trends. This study aims to evaluate their effectiveness in practice, particularly during information analysis, and their influence on decision-making. To conduct this evaluation, physiological response measures from neuroscience, particularly eye-tracking using webcams and Real Eye® software, will be employed during an experimental design intended to compare the effectiveness of visual data analysis with traditional tabular information analysis. The results of this experiment are expected to provide valuable insights for both the academics and practitioners in the field, as well as data users in general
