Political and institutional determinants of FDI at the global level, Latin America and ASEAN Universidad ESAN, Perú This study analyzes the influence of political and institutional factors on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) between 1996 and 2019. Based on a theoretical and empirical review, an explanatory model is delineated, examining the relationship between institutions, political risk, political regime and corruption, and FDI flows. It uses data from 170 countries globally, 26 Latin American countries, and 9 ASEAN (Southeast Asian Nations) countries for benchmarking. Advanced statistical techniques such as panel data, multiple imputations, and exploratory factor analysis were used, employing Python and R. The study shows a global relationship between governance and FDI, particularly in ASEAN, although global political polarization acts detrimentally. While corruption is negatively associated with FDI, in some regions, higher perceptions of corruption correlate with higher FDI. Furthermore, democracy attracts FDI globally but shows disparate trends in Latin America. The study concludes that contextualized policies and future research in emerging economies are needed 12:48pm - 12:56pm
Resilience and Research Competencies in Business Students at a Private University in Lima, Peru 1Universidad Cientifica del Sur, Perú; 2Universidad Tecnológica del Perú UTP - (PE) The university environment demands solid research skills, a process in which resilience acts as a determining psychosocial factor. This study aimed to determine the relationship between resilience and research competencies in business students at a private university in Lima, Peru. A quantitative approach with a non-experimental-correlational design was applied to a convenience sample of 119 students. The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) and a validated research skills questionnaire were used. The findings showed a strong positive correlation (ρ = 0.758; p < 0.001). It is concluded that resilience facilitates research development by enabling students to manage the stress of the thesis process. This highlights the need to integrate socioemotional strengthening into methodological training from the early stages. 12:56pm - 1:04pm
Analysis of losses due to irregular collection and consumption of electricity and proposal of a strategic improvement plan Universidad Tecnológica Empresarial de Guayaquil, Ecuador The Ecuadorian electricity sector, managed by public entities such as the National Electricity Corporation (CNEL EP), faces significant economic losses stemming from accumulated delinquency and irregular consumption, particularly in the province of Los Ríos. This study analyzes operational data from 155,594 users for the period January-December 2025, revealing that users with conventional meters account for 73.85% of overdue accounts (USD 39.65 million) and 64.53% of total consumption, demonstrating a high vulnerability in consumption control and collection. Using a sequential explanatory mixed-methods approach, quantitative analysis (descriptive statistics and anomaly detection) is combined with qualitative interpretation to diagnose the technical and administrative causes of non-technical losses. The results highlight the effectiveness of advanced systems (telemetry and AMI) in reducing delinquency and irregular consumption. A comprehensive strategic plan is proposed, with five key areas: migration to smart metering, billing optimization, segmented collections, data-driven territorial management, and organizational strengthening. Implementation aims to reduce financial losses, improve financial sustainability, and enhance operational efficiency at CNEL EP – Los Ríos. 1:04pm - 1:12pm
Applicability Evaluation of a Managed Cybersecurity Solution as a Service for Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Honduras Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana - UNITEC - (HN), Honduras This research evaluates the applicability of a managed cybersecurity solution for MSMEs in Honduras in response to the growing incidence of cyberattacks affecting the digital economy. A mixed applied, exploratory, and descriptive approach was adopted, collecting data through 389 surveys administered to MSMEs and interviews with subject-matter experts. The analysis was grounded in change management theory, strategic planning principles, international cybersecurity frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and CIS Controls), and the PMBOK good practices guide. The findings reveal a low level of digital maturity: 53.21% of MSMEs lack formal risk management policies, and 31.88% do not possess legally licensed basic software. Nevertheless, 83.54% expressed willingness to invest in cybersecurity solutions. As a result, this study proposes an original five-phase, tiered model designed to externalize technical complexity and ensure operational continuity, representing the most efficient pathway to strengthen business resilience against current cybersecurity risks. 1:12pm - 1:20pm
Impact of Antidumping Measures on Chinese Textile Imports in Peru, 2021–2024 Universidad Tecnológica del Perú UTP - (PE), Perú This research aimed to analyze the impact of anti-dumping measures on Peruvian imports of polyester fabrics originating from China during the period 2021-2024, focusing on two national subheadings affected by Resolution No. 006-2023/CDB-INDECOPI. The study is basic in type, with a quantitative approach, descriptive scope, and non-experimental cross-sectional design. The population comprised import records from SUNAT corresponding to the subheadings under investigation. The results reveal a differentiated impact: while one subheading experienced a significant contraction in its imports subject to anti-dumping duties, the other showed exceptional growth, demonstrating a clear effect of trade diversion towards categories not directly affected. Likewise, it was confirmed that the anti-dumping duties were partially transferred to import unit prices. The importance of this study lies in providing empirical evi dence on the effectiveness and limitations of anti-dumping measures in the Peruvian textile sector. It concludes by recommending continuous monitoring of imports, diversification of suppliers, strengthening of local industry, periodic review of trade policies, and promotion of the competitiveness of the national textile sector. 1:20pm - 1:28pm
Supply Chain Management and Its Relationship with Productivity in a Metal and Mineral Company in Lima, Peru Universidad Cientifica del Sur, Perú Supply chain management represents a strategic factor for organizational productivity, particularly in business contexts characterized by operational, technological, and competitive constraints. Within this framework, the objective of this study was to determine the relationship between supply chain management and staff productivity in a metal and mineral company located in Lima, Peru. The research followed a quantitative approach with a descriptive–correlational scope and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. A census sample of 39 employees was considered, and data were collected through a structured Likert-scale questionnaire, previously validated by expert judgment and reliability analysis. Since the data did not show a normal distribution, Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient was applied to test the research hypotheses. The results reveal a direct and moderately positive relationship between supply chain management and productivity (ρ = 0.613; p < 0.05), as well as significant associations with the dimensions of efficiency, effectiveness, and efficacy. These findings confirm that adequate management of purchasing, storage, and distribution processes plays a relevant role in improving productivity, highlighting the importance of strengthening logistics practices to enhance business competitiveness. | ||
