Incidence of the Terms of Trade on Peru’s Trade Balance: A Quantitative Analysis UNIVERSIDAD CESAR VALLEJO, Perú This study analyzes the impact of terms of trade (TOT) on Peru's trade balance from 2013 to 2023. It was developed using a quantitative, non-experimental approach with an explanatory scope, employing a linear regression model using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method to identify how the TOT affected Peru's trade balance. The results reveal that the TOT have a positive and significant impact on Peru's trade balance; that is, when the terms of trade index increases by one unit, the trade balance increases by $43.91 million. Likewise, the findings show that copper and gold exports play a decisive role in Peru's economic development, which implies high sensitivity to international price fluctuations. In this context, the study highlights the importance of the Peruvian government continuing to implement policies to mitigate TOT shocks in order to strengthen the trade balance and reduce the economy's external vulnerability. 3:48pm - 3:56pm
Financial Education and the Reduction of Labor Informality in Micro and Small Enterprises in Trujillo, Peru Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego - (PE), Perú The objective of this research was to determine how financial education is related to the reduction of labor informality among micro and small entrepreneurs in the city of Trujillo, Peru. The study follows a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. A Likert-scale questionnaire was applied to a sample of 245 entrepreneurs selected through simple random sampling. The results show that 53.5% of respondents have a low level of financial knowledge, 65.3% demonstrate limited financial skills, and 78% exhibit inadequate financial attitudes. These factors contribute to a high incidence of informal employment, with only 11.4% of entrepreneurs demonstrating a high level of compliance with their labor obligations. A significant and inverse relationship between the two variables was identified. Finally, the study highlights the need for financial training programs and public policies that promote financial education as a strategy to enhance labor formalization in the micro and small enterprise sector. 3:56pm - 4:04pm
Relationship between attitudes towards artificial intelligence and social entrepreneurship skills in engineering students 1Universidad César Vallejo - (PE); 2Universidad Privada del Norte - (PE), Perú This study analyzes the relationship between attitudes toward artificial intelligence (AI) and social entrepreneurship competencies in first-year engineering students. A quantitative, applied approach with a non-experimental, correlational design was used. The sample consisted of 100 students selected through non-probability convenience sampling. Two validated instruments were used for data collection: the Questionnaire on Attitudes toward Artificial Intelligence and the University Social Entrepreneurship Questionnaire. Due to the lack of statistical normality, data processing was performed using Spearman's rho coefficient. The results show a weak but significant positive relationship between attitudes toward AI and social entrepreneurship (Rho = 0.222; p = 0.026). However, none of the five dimensions of social entrepreneurship—personal sub-competence, leadership, social innovation, social value, and entrepreneurial management—showed significant correlations with the AI variable. These findings indicate that, while a positive attitude toward AI technologies may be linked to a general understanding of social entrepreneurship, this relationship is not uniformly reflected in the specific development of its sub-competencies. Consequently, the results highlight the need to strengthen initial engineering education through pedagogical strategies focused on critical digital literacy, the ethical and responsible use of AI tools, and the promotion of entrepreneurial competencies with social impact, essential elements for addressing the challenges of digital transformation in the university setting. 4:04pm - 4:12pm
Implementation of Business Intelligence in Financial Decision-Making: A Pre-Experimental Study in a Service-Sector SME Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego - (PE), Perú The study aimed to evaluate observed changes in financial information for decision-making following the implementation of Business Intelligence (Power BI) in an SME in the service sector. A quantitative, explanatory approach was adopted using a pre-experimental, one-group pretest–posttest design. The dependent variable was operationalized across four dimensions: time, information management, satisfaction, and quality. To test the hypothesis, paired-sample tests (Student’s t test and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test) were applied to ensure the robustness of results against potential deviations from the normality assumption (α = 0.05). The findings showed statistically significant differences between pre- and post-measurements (p = 0.018), corroborated by the Wilcoxon test (p = 0.0039). The effect size was large (Cohen’s d ≈ 0.99; Hedges’ g ≈ 0.94). A sensitivity analysis incorporating ±10% variations in indicator weights confirmed the stability of the results. The hypothesis was supported: the implementation of BI yielded improvements that are both statistically significant and of practical relevance for the firm’s financial management. 4:12pm - 4:20pm
Innovathons and mindset change: analysis of the perceived effect on the entrepreneurial intent of university students at UNITEC Honduras Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC), Honduras This study analyzes the implementation of Innovathon as an educational intervention aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills in university students from a multidisciplinary context. The model integrated participatory dynamics and innovation tools (design thinking, social business canvas, and triple impact matrix) to guide teams from problem identification to proposal structuring and communication. The evaluation was conducted using a mixed-method approach. Due to the anonymity of the survey, the quantitative analysis was approached as a cross-sectional post-Innovathon design, with qualitative evidence through direct observation and field notes. The results suggest that the Innovathon functions as an effective experiential learning environment, where the use of design thinking, social business canvas, and triple impact facilitates the understanding of real problems and the proposal of innovative and comprehensive solutions. Similarly, the practical, collaborative, and high-pressure experience was associated with the development of soft skills such as decision-making, effective communication, teamwork, and tolerance for error. Finally, methodological limitations are reported, and improvements are proposed to increase the validity, monitoring, and scalability of the model. 4:20pm - 4:28pm
Level of diversification of Peruvian exports of sacha inchi oil, 2014-2024 Universidad Tecnológica del Perú UTP - (PE), Perú Sacha inchi oil is a significant product among Peru's non-traditional exports, standing out for its high nutritional value and versatility in various industries. This research analyzes the dynamics of its exports, with an emphasis on the level of diversification of destination markets, measured using the Theil Index, and on the structure of exporting companies, evaluated through the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI). Methodologically, the research adopts a basic quantitative approach and a non-experimental design, based on the systematic analysis of foreign trade statistics from Infotrade corresponding to tariff heading 1515.90.00.90. The results show that exports reached their peak growth in 2020, with increases of 54% in FOB value and 65% in net weight. During the study period, the main exporting regions were Lima (55%), San Martín (25%), and Callao (20%). The highest degree of market diversification was recorded in 2018, with a Theil index of 0.213; however, in 2020 the index increased to 0.456, indicating greater concentration, primarily in Taiwan. Likewise, the business structure showed a high level of concentration in most years, with Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) values exceeding 1800. It is recommended to promote the export diversification of sacha inchi oil, prioritizing strengthening business capacities, public-private partnerships, and the development of market research and business intelligence, complemented by international promotion activities. 4:28pm - 4:36pm
Innovation in the Collection Service Management Process aimed at SDG 9: Case Study Hotel Ibis Universidad Privada del Norte - (PE), Perú The growing demand for reliability in accommodation services and the need for operational efficiency in Peruvian hotels pose structural and technological challenges that must be aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9. Therefore, the objective of this study has been to propose improvements to the management process of the Hotel Ibis's billing service, using a quantitative approach, descriptive-explanatory applied research, and a non-experimental cross-sectional design, as well as the application of Business Process Management (BPM) methodology. The instruments used were an observation sheet to identify the current situation of the process and a questionnaire to gather information for the diagnosis of the current situation. The application of BPM notation used Bizagi Modeler to analyze the AS-IS operational flow and design the improved TO-BE model. The results of the analysis revealed inefficiencies in manual activities and duplications in the accommodation process. The proposal and simulation of the model showed a 34% reduction in operating costs and an 68% reduction in collection time, demonstrating the impact of automation on process efficiency with the application of the property management system (PMS), autonomous virtual assistant, and a control panel for monitoring performance indicators. Overall, the results confirm that the integration of BPM with emerging technologies optimizes the accommodation service and strengthens the hotel's competitiveness | ||
