Implementation of the 5S methodology to improve productivity in the warehouse area of an industrial maintenance company UNIVERSIDAD POLITECNICA SALESIANA, Ecuador This research article addresses the implementation of the 5S methodology in the warehouse area of a maintenance company in Guayaquil. This methodology, which combines quantitative and qualitative approaches, was applied comprehensively, incorporating the principles of classification, order, cleanliness, standardization, and discipline. To evaluate the initial and final state of the area, a checklist was compiled to measure progress toward the established objectives. The results obtained reflected a significant change in the final checklist, evidencing improvements especially in classification, order, and cleanliness. To maintain the final two Ss, tables were implemented and discussions were held with the staff. Additionally, operational indicators showed improvements in search time and correct returns. This article reviews various cases of application of the methodology in different industries and areas, gathering key information for its effective implementation in the warehouse area. | |
