Slope Stabilization Using Bioengineering on the Encañada Road Universidad Privada Del Norte (UPN), Perú In this research, a technical analysis of soil bioengineering was conducted as an alternative for slope stabilization and the control of water erosion, a frequent problem in civil and geotechnical engineering works. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the influence of vegetation on slope stability, considering both the hydrological and mechanical effects that roots and vegetation cover exert on the soil. To this end, a review and analysis of geotechnical principles related to slope stability, soil classification, and the mechanisms of natural reinforcement provided by vegetation were carried out, as well as their interaction with surface runoff. Likewise, the positive and negative factors associated with the use of plants on slopes were examined, highlighting their contribution to erosion reduction, increased shear strength, and improved soil behavior under rainfall conditions. Finally, it was concluded that soil bioengineering represents a technically viable and environmentally sustainable solution for slope stabilization, provided that it is applied considering soil characteristics, slope geometry, and the type of vegetation used. | |
