Physicochemical and microbiological evaluation of a spring destined for human consumption in the Mantaro Valley, Peru 1: Universidad Tecnológica del Perú UTP - (PE); 2: Universidad Privada de Huancayo The research evaluated the physicochemical and microbial quality of water from the Virgen de Cocharcas spring in Matapuquio, Huancayo, Peru, intended for human consumption. Parameters such as fecal coliforms, total coliforms, Escherichia coli, conductivity, pH, salinity, and total dissolved solids were assessed at four different sampling locations. The findings indicated a lack of fecal contamination and the absence of Escherichia coli, signaling that the water is safe for consumption. Levels of conductivity, pH, and salinity were found to be appropriate for drinking water. Total, dissolved solids remained within established limits. In conclusion, the Virgen de Cocharcas spring in Matapuquio is suitable for human consumption, possessing excellent microbiological and physicochemical properties | |
