New technologies in education: Using TikTok as a teaching tool for teaching French as a foreign language 1: Hellenic Open University; 2: Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece The purpose of this study is to examine teachers' opinions on the use of TikTok as a digital tool and as a resource to help students learn French. More specifically, the objective is to discover teachers' opinions, their experiences, and what they find difficult to understand about integrating such teaching methods. In addition, this article highlights another major aspect to be overcome, namely technical obstacles, inadequate infrastructure, and teacher training. Ultimately, it attempts to offer teachers more opportunities to use digital tools more effectively in their teaching practices. The study adopts a qualitative approach that focuses on the descriptions of FLE teachers. The sample consists of twelve FLE teachers who work mainly in public and private middle and high schools in Greece, supplemented by elementary school teachers. Digital technology allows students to be independent, creative, collaborate with peers, and even be the class itself. The results also highlight the need for ongoing teacher training and well-designed policies to effectively use digital tools in education, particularly for the protection of learners. | |
