Simulation of anti-angiogenesis and febrile neutropenia risk: a mathematical modeling approach

Tumor angiogenesis and its inhibition are key processes in cancer progression and treatment response. Understanding the relationship between vascular changes and chemotherapy-induced hematological complications is essential to evaluate therapeutic safety. This paper presents the development of a computational simulator that integrates simplified mathematical models to represent inverse angiogenesis in vascular tumors and to estimate the risk of febrile neutropenia associated with the combined use of bevacizumab and paclitaxel. The system combines a Python-based computational module, built upon differential equations, with an interactive Unity interface that allows adjusting clinical and treatment parameters and visualizing the temporal evolution of tumor volume, VEGF concentration, and vascular branching. The results obtained show trends consistent with those reported in the literature, reflecting a reduction in VEGF and tumor growth
