Agricultural waste management from a circular economy perspective: Systematic review Universidad Tecnológica del Perú UTP - (PE), Perú The generation of agricultural waste is currently a challenge, as its inadequate management has negative impacts on the environment and the economy. In this context, this study conducts a systematic review of the literature on technologies and treatments aimed at recovering agricultural waste under the circular economy approach, a strategy that allows waste to be transformed into resources and integrated into the production cycle. The research was conducted using a non-experimental cross-sectional methodology, following the guidelines of the PRISMA statement. The literature search was conducted in the Scopus, Scielo, and Google Scholar databases, considering articles published since 2020. From an initial total of 547 studies, 23 articles were selected using inclusion and exclusion criteria related to waste type, methodological quality, practical applicability, and link to the circular economy. The results demonstrate the application of biotechnological processes and recovery technologies such as anaerobic digestion, biorefinery, pyrolysis, and biopolymer production, as well as the use of waste in different industrial sectors. Noteworthy examples include the recovery of corn cobs into pellets with a lower carbon footprint, the use of kiwi waste rich in bioactive compounds for the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries, the incorporation of coffee grounds as additives in construction materials, and the biosynthesis of nanoparticles from grape pomace. Likewise, some studies incorporate management models supported by digital platforms. In conclusion, the evidence analyzed confirms that the circular economy optimizes agricultural waste management, reduces environmental impacts, promotes innovative business models, and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals | |
