Cuba Vargas, Karen Esteincin1, Palomino Monteza, Vanessa Yaniz2, Corpus Vergara, Néstor Bernardo1

1Universidad Privada del Norte - (PE), Perú; 2Centro de Altos Estudios Nacionales - (PE), Perú

The role of Peruvian female inventors in technological development is reflected in their growing participation in patent creation, highlighting the importance of gender equity in innovation despite structural and cultural barriers that hinder their access to technological and financial resources. In 2022, 74 patent applications by women were recorded, primarily for utility models, while invention patents remain less common due to their greater complexity. Public policies have been essential in promoting female inclusion, but these measures need to be strengthened to address persistent inequalities and achieve greater equity in scientific and technological fields.

T. y C., Colombia; 2Grupo de Investigación en Sistemas Ambientales e Hidráulicos (GISAH), Escuela de Ingeniería Arquitectura & Diseño, Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar, Cartagena, Colombia; 3Universidad del Sinú, Elias Bechara Zainum, seccional Cartagena, Colombia; 4Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, Colombia

Tardigrades (commonly known as "water bears") are microscopic animals whose bodies are usually less than 1 mm long, they are microscopic bilaterian organisms that belong to the phylum Tardigrada. These organisms are best known for initiating and maintaining a state of dormancy known as cryptobiosis. This ability allows them to survive in unfavorable environments and to inhabit places characterized by extreme temperatures, variable water availability, etc. (e.g., Antarctica). Antarctica is of great scientific interest, as the extreme environmental conditions require unique adaptive traits expressed by the organisms inhabiting this region. The presence of tardigrades in Antarctica has been scientifically documented, and their characteristics could be strategic in developing geobiological, astrobiological, and other areas of knowledge.

The role of women in business development in cities

Martha Patricia Castro-Porto, Oriana Susana Martínez Palomino, Rita Cecilia De La Hoz Del Villar, Jorge Luis Del Río Cortina, Javier Mauricio Prieto Florez, Ludis Elena Chávez Barrios

Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar, Colombia

It is proposed to analyze female leadership in the business sector as a key factor to promote gender equality. Taking into consideration that female leadership in the city's business sector contributes to the advancement of gender equality in society. To address this issue, an analytical study was conducted using a validated questionnaire with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.811, ensuring the reliability of the data collected. The results reveal significant progress in reducing gender gaps in the business and health sectors, driven by the guidelines of Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5), the country's Political Constitution, and various laws and regulations oriented towards equity. However, it was observed that gender inequality decreases as women occupy higher hierarchical positions, while larger gaps persist at the lower levels of organizations. Likewise, the level of academic education is identified as a crucial determinant for the reduction of these disparities. The findings confirm the initial hypothesis and underscore the need to continue strengthening policies and practices in the health and business sectors to achieve more comprehensive gender equality in the future.
