Workshops: Guidelines for Resilient thermal energy systems design in extreme climates
1. Planning for the second edition of the Guide for Resilient Thermal Energy Systems Design in Cold and Arctic Climate.
The first edition has been recently published by ASHRAE https://www.wbdg.org/ffc/army-coe/design-guides/guide-for-resilient-thermal-energy-systems-design-in-cold-and-arctic-climates. It has been developed primarily by the team from North America with participation from Denmark. Contributions from other Nordic countries are welcome to finalize the next edition by the Cold Climate HVAC and Energy conference planned for 2023.

2. Guide for Resilient Thermal Energy Systems Design in Cold and hot and humid climate. The Guide will be developed in 2021 and will include information on:
- Specifics of design in hot and humid climate, corrosive environment in coastal and high-water table in inland areas,
- Requirements for building thermal conditions under normal and emergency operations; - Parameters for thermal energy systems resilience;
- Building envelope, including considerations for foundation construction in areas with a high-water table and in corrosive environment, typical building archetypes, recommendations for thermal characteristics (mass, U-value, vapor, water and air- barriers)
- Best practices for HVAC, including considerations for construction in corrosive environment, humidity control, pros and cons of different technologies, O&M;
- Best practices for district cooling systems
- Evaluation of maximum time to repair
