Brief Description and Outline:

The goals are here dual:

1) Inform and engage on AI developments and initiatives at the EU level (e.g RAISE), from a strategical point of view:

• Why were such developments/ initatives chosen?

• How did they materialize?

• How can we, scientists, influence this process?

• Are we satisfied with those?

• Do you think these calls bring AI forward?

2) Enhance one’s career / skills: 

• What could science policy bring to my current or future work (e.g CoARA)?

• How do people weigh in policy-making in Brussels or with other collaborators

• Retrospective on the Helmholtz Brussel's habilitation opportunity to engage temporarily on science policy in their office, for anyone within the Helmholtz Association.

This session will be divided in two short presentations (~20min) intertwined with interactive / role-play aspects and concludes into a general, open discussion.

Goals:

Broaden scientists' perspectives regarding:

1) AI strategic development within EU and

2) what science policy looks like.

Presenters Experience:

Head of the Helmholtz Brussels Office, long term experience on career perspective talks.

Target Audience:

Young scientists with an interest to understand science from another angle.
