Feeling thinking design with indigenous communities: A horizon
Sitalin Sánchez1, Lorena Barradas2
1Ibero-American University, Puebla; 2Universidad de las Américas Puebla
The aim of this Conversation is to show the possibility of building feeling, thinking design that allows the dialogue between different worldviews, through the work of a design studio founded by an indigenous female designer and a non-indigenous female designer. Starting from the analysis of the intercultural relationship of the founders, as well from their collaboration with organizations that belong to indigenous communities, it is shown how a horizontal interaction centered in the mesoamerican matrix worldview, favors different ways of creation and representation that defy the modern - colonial core of the design. By discussing their creative process and their results we can understand the complexity of collaborating and representing indigenous communities.
