Who designs for policy?

This conversation asks participants to inquire about the skills and competencies of those engaging in the practice of design for policy. We look at discussing the professional background and training of people currently working as ‘policy designers’ and the knowledge and abilities these designers contribute when developing and implementing public policies, services, and governance. From this premise, we look at developing an understanding of the specific needs governments have around the introduction of design for policy and how academia can help shape these professional profiles whilst developing specialised educational programmes. Likewise, we aim at bringing together practitioners and researchers to debate the implications of creating specific disciplinary profiles and how this can shape career paths within public administration.
