Session Abstract

Graduate students in musicology are now entering many lines of work. Faculty advisors need not be career experts to offer them substantive support. In this interactive workshop for faculty advisors and directors of graduate studies, Danielle Fosler-Lussier and Stacy Hartman offer strategies for advising graduate students on a range of possible careers, inside or outside the academy. We offer easy-to-use strategies for opening and sustaining conversations about career preparation and resources students can use to find jobs that align with their values, skills, and interests. We also demonstrate how faculty can leverage their own networks for students’ benefit. Participants will have the opportunity to put what they learned into practice through case studies.

No proposals were assigned to this session.
