Workshop in Research Techniques and Bibliography, led by Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM) will offer a 90-minute workshop on research techniques with a focus on bibliography, historiography, databases, and research tools that are relevant to researchers in the field of musicology, music pedagogy, music performance, music theory, and music ethnography. The workshop is aimed at graduate students or other junior scholars. Depending on participants’ interests, the workshop may address: online resources and databases; reference works; working with and locating primary sources, including iconography and musical scores; conducting research in languages other than English; as well as abstract writing. Through short research project presentations by participants, guided discussion, and demonstrations, the workshop will offer an environment for graduate students and junior scholars to engage in dialogue and exchange, and to expand critical debate on recent research within the discipline while acquiring or bolstering solid research techniques. The workshop will be directed by Editor Ralph Whyte and assisted by other RILM staff as needed. Those wishing to attend the workshop should send a short bio and abstract summarizing their research interests via a precirculated Google sheet by October 31 2024. |
